Round Up

Round up makes it simple to save money, get ahead, and build up your savings without even thinking about it. Every time you use your debit card, you're saving money.

Turn your everyday purchases into savings.

Saving money is automatic and stress-free with Round Up. When you use your debit card for a one-time debit card purchase, we’ll round up your purchase to the nearest dollar and transfer the difference to your savings account. It’s like dropping your spare change into a piggy bank, but even easier!

How It Works:

  1. Make a Purchase: Use your debit card as usual.
  2. We Round It Up: Your purchase is rounded up to the nearest dollar.
  3. Save Instantly: The spare change is transferred to your C&F savings account.

Why Choose Round Up?

  • Effortless Savings: No extra steps or budgeting required.
  • Every Cent Counts: Small change adds up over time.
  • Smart and Automatic: Build your savings without thinking about it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Round Up to Savings Program?

The Round Up to Savings program is a feature that automatically rounds up personal debit card purchases to the nearest dollar — and then deposits the total rounded-up amount into the customer’s designated C&F savings account.

Is there a fee to use Round Up to Savings?

No, there are no fees associated with Round Up to Savings.

What types of transactions will Round Up to Savings?

Round Up applies to one-time debit card purchases only. Recurring debit card purchases and ATM withdrawals will not Round Up.

How can I sign up for this feature?

Customers can easily sign up directly on cffc.com. For in-person or telephone sign-up requests, branch and call center teammates can assist.

Does a C&F Savings account need to be opened before opting into the Round Up program?

Yes, either an existing or new savings account must be opened before the program can be activated.

Can any type of C&F Savings account be selected to receive the automatic Round up transfer?

Only personal Statement Savings, UTMA Savings, Super Saver, and Holiday Clubs are eligible savings accounts for this program.

How often will Round Up to Savings deposits happen?

Round Up to Savings deposits are automatically transferred in one lump sum to an opted-in savings account at the end of each business day.

Can I change my account number or type if I'm already enrolled in Round Up?

Yes, customers can opt in, opt out, or change the savings account where their Round Up cents are deposited.

Can Round Up funds go into a Checking or Money Market account instead of a Savings account?

No, Round Up transfers may only go into a qualifying C&F savings account at this time.

If I have multiple debit cards, can the funds go into one savings account?

Yes, any personal checking account that a debit card is tied to can be enrolled in Round Up. The Round Up deposit can go to any qualifying savings account. There is no limitation on the number of debit cards associated with the checking account, number of checking accounts signed up, or the number of deposits made to any savings account.

If I have a joint account and we both have a debit card, do the funds need to go into the same savings account, or can they go to different accounts?

The funds must go into the same qualified savings account. The checking account determines the Round Up transfer to the savings account. It doesn't matter how many debit cards are associated with the account; only one savings account can be designated to receive the transfer.

To clarify, if I have a transaction for $10.50, I will see a transaction on the checking account for $10.50 plus a separate transaction for $0.50, correct?

Yes, each debit card purchase will be rounded to the nearest dollar and the difference will be automatically transferred to the designated savings account daily. Multiple Round Ups in one day will show as one single transaction on the accounts.

If I use my mobile wallet, such as Apple Pay or Google Pay, will my transaction still Round Up?

Yes, mobile wallet transactions will Round Up.

Can a Round Up transfer overdraw my account?

No, Round Up transfers will not overdraw an account. The bank uses the ledger balance (not the available balance) for the program, so it won't affect overdraft protection. If an account is overdrawn at the end of the business day, Round Up transfers should not occur.
