Supporting Local Children with Backpacks of Love
Hunger doesn’t pause when the school week ends — and thanks to the generosity of C&F Bank employees and customers, more children in our communities will head into the weekend with the food they need.
As part of our C&F Gives Back initiative, we were proud to partner with Backpacks of Love, a Central Virginia nonprofit dedicated to eliminating hunger in school-age children by providing food for weekends when school meals are unavailable. From March through April, our team came together to support this mission through both donations and hands-on volunteerism.

In addition to donations, C&F employees rolled up their sleeves at the Backpacks of Love pantry, helping sort food items and pack bags that are delivered each week to local schools. This hands-on support ensures backpacks are efficiently prepared and distributed to children who need them most.

- $1,000 donated to support Backpacks of Love’s ongoing programs
- 122 boxes and packages donated, totaling 1,478 individual food items
- 15 C&F employees volunteered, contributing 68 combined hours
- Food sorted and packed for delivery to schools across Powhatan, Chesterfield, Henrico, Hanover, Goochland, Buckingham, Amelia, Cumberland, and Hopewell
